Job Summary
The Clinical Administrator and Coder plays an important role in ensuring that paperwork gets processed accurately and efficiently every day. This position involves scanning documents and following a workflow protocol to accurately deal with them. Experience in medical coding is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, have a strong work ethic and have used EMIS and docman before.
Duties
- Scan and upload patient documents and hospital correspondence into the clinical system (emis web) using Docman
- Review incoming clinical documents, correspondence, and reports for relevant patient information, highlighting appropriately
- Accurately code clinical information using SNOMED codes in line with agreed practice workflow protocols and workflow appropriately.
- Identify and act on any clinical information requiring attention or follow-up by a GP or any other relevant clinician.
- Actively monitor the Docman email, checking if there are exceptions of documents that did not automatically transfer and process them manually.
- Manage the Docman email, making sure there is enough space by clearing out old actioned emails.
- Keeping a log of the daily documents sent to our external coder.
- Manage coding queries from clinicians and the wider administrative team
- Provide general administrative support and undertake ad hoc tasks as required
- Answer phone calls for appointments at 8am.
Skills
- Strong attention to detail in scanning, picking out relevant information and coding.
- Experience with Emis web and docman.
- Training and experience in medical coding.
- Strong phone etiquette to handle patient appointment bookings.
- Strong work ethic and excellent organisational skills in processing a large number of documents per day.
