1. Purpose of the job
1.1 We are looking for a passionate Class Assistant, with great attention detail for the Isle of Dogs Riverside and Bromley by Bow Kumon Centre branches. To facilitate and support both centre managers in all aspects of delivering the Kumon Maths and English learning programmes within a Kumon Centre.
2. Line management
2.1 There is no line management responsibility within this role.
3. Duties & Responsibilities
Classroom:
3.1 To assist in setting up and clearing down the classroom in a timely manner to ensure the environment is ready for activity before the first student arrives.
This will include and is not limited to ensuring all tables, chairs and relevant is equipment is out for use and put away at the end of each session.
3.2 To replenish equipment as and when needed.
Reception:
3.3 Provide a professional, welcoming atmosphere for parent/carer and students throughout their visit at the Centre.
3.4 To liaise and maintain positive working relationships with parent/carers of students as and when required. This will include answering questions, managing queries as and when they arise. To escalate and pass on messages to the Centre Manager appropriately.
3.5 Ensure front of hour is set up in a presentable manner before the first student arrives.
This will include and is not limited to ensuring all relevant equipment is out for use.
3.6 Ensure all student folders and worksheets are out and organised ready to be given to students promptly on arrival.
3.7 Issue and collect homework from Students on arrival.
Student Worksheets:
3.8 To prepare student work as instructed by Centre Manager within the timelines set.
3.9 To accurately mark homework and record student’s work and complete reporting methods.
3.10 To accurately log incomplete work and file away according to centre procedure.
Classes are open all year except for a two week break at Xmas, Easter and in the summer, so you will sometimes be expected to work during some school holidays. This is a part-time role. Training will sometimes be required outside of class hours. The timing of this will be at a mutually agreed time and you will be paid according to age and experience and for the hours you work. You will be required to sign a contract and terms and conditions which include confidentiality clauses. You will also be required to undergo a DBS check, paid partly by the employer. The successful applicant must have:
· Ability to demonstrate attention to detail in marking work.
· Ability to understand and implement marking and recording processes.
· Willingness and ability to attend training sessions, and to pick up new concepts and processes easily.
