Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Truck Driver to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of goods to various locations. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to manage time effectively. Experience with flatbed deliveries is advantageous.
Duties
- Operate a lorry in a safe and responsible manner, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring proper securing of items for transport, particularly with flatbed loads.
- Plan routes effectively to optimise delivery times while considering road conditions and traffic patterns.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including logs of mileage and fuel usage.
- Communicate with dispatchers regarding delivery schedules and any issues that may arise during transit.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, addressing any concerns or questions from clients.
Qualifications
- Valid commercial driving licence (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a delivery driver; experience with flatbed lorries is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices in commercial driving.
- Ability to lift heavy items and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading cargo.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with clients and team members.
