About Us
Beacon Childcare provides safe, nurturing, and high-quality residential care for children and young people. We are committed to creating child-centred, therapeutic environments where young people can feel safe, supported, and empowered.
We are currently re-opening one of our solo homes in Smethwick and are building a brand-new staff team. As part of this, we are looking for a dedicated and resilient Team Leader to play a key role in supporting the Registered Manager and leading the team in providing exceptional care.
The Role
As Team Leader, you will support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the solo home. You will take responsibility for leading shifts, mentoring staff, and ensuring the young person receives high-quality care in line with their individual needs. This is a hands-on role where you will also provide direct support to the child, helping to create a safe, consistent, and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead shifts and support staff in delivering high-quality care.
- Provide direct support to the young person, promoting their welfare, safety, and independence.
- Act as a role model, demonstrating professional standards of care and behaviour.
- Support the Registered Manager with daily operations and compliance requirements.
- Contribute to care plans, risk assessments, and reviews.
- Mentor, guide, and support staff development.
- Ensure safeguarding and regulatory standards are always met.
- Work flexibly on a rota basis, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
About You
- NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Residential Care (essential); working towards or willing to complete Level 4 is desirable.
- Previous experience in residential childcare, ideally with shift-leading or senior responsibilities.
- Understanding of safeguarding, child development, and trauma-informed care.
- Resilient, reliable, and able to manage challenging behaviours confidently.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with a supportive team approach.
What We Offer
- Salary between £27,000 – £32,000 (dependent on experience).
- Additional sleep-in payments.
- Ongoing training and development, with progression opportunities.
- Supportive, values-led working environment.
- The chance to help build and shape a brand-new solo provision.
