Job Title: Children’s Carer / Support Worker

Location: Barking and Dagenham
Hours: Flexible shifts including weekdays, evenings, and weekends.
Salary: £13.00 – £16.00 per hour (depending on day and time worked) during a 6-month probationary period. Upon successful completion of probation, a salary increase may be considered.

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Children’s Carers / Support Workers to join our team in the Barking and Dagenham areas. This role will involve caring for children with complex medical needs, learning difficulties, and disabilities (such as Autism and ADHD), providing personal care, administering medication, and supporting them both at home and in the community. You will be responsible for ensuring that children can access education, medical appointments, and social activities in a safe, supportive, and engaging way.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality care to children with complex medical needs, including personal care.
- Support children with learning difficulties and disabilities, such as Autism and ADHD.
- Administer medication safely in line with care plans and training.
- Support children during supervised visits as required.
- Transport children to and from school, medical appointments, and community activities (using own car with business insurance).
- Encourage learning, development, and fun through outings, play, and structured activities.
- Follow care plans and record daily progress accurately.
- Work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and colleagues to promote the child’s wellbeing.
- Always safeguard children in line with company policy and statutory requirements.
Requirements
Essential:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience caring for children, including those with complex medical needs.
- Experience working with children with learning difficulties and disabilities (e.g., Autism, ADHD).
- Proven experience administering medication.
- Business insurance on own vehicles and ability to transport children safely.
- Experience providing personal care.
- Strong safeguarding knowledge.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build trust with children and families.
- Flexibility to work across multiple children’s service users, with availability ideally for all days and times — including evenings, weekends, and weekdays.
Desirable:
- Experience supporting supervised family contact visits.
- Qualifications in Health & Social Care or related field.
- Pediatric First Aid training.
Recruitment Process
Successful applicants will be invited to attend a Recruitment Day at our head office in Loughton, Essex, Date to be confirmed, running from 10:00am to 4:30pm. This day will include:
- An introduction to the history of KASE Care.
- A presentation from our management team.
- Math’s and English tests.
- In-person group activities.
If successful at the Recruitment Day, candidates will be invited to a one-to-one interview via Microsoft Teams. Following this, successful applicants will be invited to attend a full-day induction (date to be confirmed) Also held at our head office in Loughton Essex.
