Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private homes. This role is vital in ensuring the comfort and well-being of our clients, particularly those requiring specialised care such as Alzheimer's, dementia, and hospice care.
Duties
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, and meal preparation.
- Provide patient care and companionship to enhance the quality of life for individuals in need.
- Support clients with medication administration and ensure adherence to prescribed treatment plans.
- Engage in behaviour management strategies to promote positive interactions and emotional well-being.
- Facilitate mobility and assist with heavy lifting when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Document client progress and report any changes in health or behaviour to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Drive clients to appointments or social activities as required, ensuring their safety during transport.
Skills
The successful candidate will possess a variety of skills including:
- Experience in assisted living, nursing homes, or senior care settings.
- Knowledge of Alzheimer's care, dementia care, hospice care, and general patient care practices.
- Proficiency in caregiving techniques and first aid certification is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours with empathy and patience.
- Competence in meal preparation that caters to dietary needs.
