As a Cardiographer you will be required to work as a competent practitioner within the Cardiology Department. Duties will include performing all non-invasive cardiac investigations. Applicants should be able to work as a Cardiographer carrying out procedures without supervision. The post holder ideally should have sound knowledge and skills in order to practice across a range of sub-specialties. They will be expected to work towards ECG interpretation and to assist with exercise tolerance testing. The role also involves general administration, quality assurance and H&S requirements. The applicant will be required to participate in training and supervision of the junior Cardiographers and students.

- To perform adult and paediatric ECGs accurately with a high level of quality, ensuring that all patients are treated with compassion and dignity.
- To perform ECGs in outpatients clinics, departmental and ward environments within RSFT
- To recognise normal and abnormal ECG records and report any abnormal findings to the appropriate clinical member of staff.
- To fit holter monitors, ensuring that clear information is provided to the patient at the time to ensure an optimal recording.
- To download and store holter monitors onto the appropriate computer programme, ensuring data is stored appropriately.
- To support the Physiologists in performing their role by assisting in various investigations.
- General care and maintenance of departmental equipment and work areas.
- To perform basis life support.
- To book patient ECG’s on the PAS system and outcome any diagnostic tests performed within the department.
- To report monthly statistics to line manager
- To co-ordinate and organise a lunch rota throughout the department, ensure the department remains functional throughout the day
- To maintain patient safety through rigorous and consistent compliance with Trust policies for the prevention and control of infection, including hand hygiene. To undertake appropriate mandatory training and updates in infection prevention and control.
- To safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people in compliance with Trust and staff responsibilities under Section 11 of The Children Act 2004; to follow Trust safeguarding children and child protection policies and guidelines and undertake appropriate mandatory training and updates in safeguarding children/child protection.
- By following Trust Policies in relation to Safeguarding Adults, staff will ensure that they work with other agencies to protect all adults from abuse at any time
