We're a small e-commerce and light manufacturing business in Peterborough, making flat-pack furniture, home accessories, and CNC-machined products using MDF, plywood, and timber. We're looking for a practical, design-focused individual to help develop 2–6 new products per week — including flat-pack furniture, decor, and functional items. You’ll work closely with the founder, who will handle material selection and CAD/CAM prep. Your role is to bring creative, buildable ideas, solve design challenges, and help test/prototype them. --- Key Responsibilities Generate and develop original product ideas weekly Sketch or model designs (CAD/CAM) Build, test, and refine prototypes using workshop tools/ CNC Problem-solve for flat-pack efficiency and user assembly Think practically about tolerances, durability, and scale --- Who We’re Looking For Someone with hands-on making or design experience (woodwork, CNC, furniture, cabinetry, or similar) Creative and solutions-oriented, with attention to detail Comfortable working independently and iteratively Open to graduates, juniors, or career changers with the right attitude and practical skillset CAD/CAM or CNC (Chinese router) knowledge is a plus, but not essential - we already have a CNC setter and operator. --- Job Details Pay: £minimum– £25.00 per hour (based on experience)- more if a good fit. Hours: Flexible, e.g min 15/week Contract: Zero-hours to start, potential for part-time/full-time Location: On-site (Peterborough)
