Job Description:
Hours: Working pattern is usually Monday - Friday, 30 hours per week, during daytime hours.
Pay: £24,570 per annum (based on a 37.5 hour working week, salary will be pro-rated for part time working)
About the service:
Steam House Cafes are purpose designed mental health crisis cafes across Norfolk & Suffolk. We offer a unique and safe cafe-styled space with a fully-trained multidisciplinary team, offering holistic support to adults experiencing mental health crisis – day and night.
At Steam House Cafes, we provide a safe and supportive café-style space for individuals, offering warmth and hospitality in a unique setting. While this role does not involve providing mental health support, our Café Hosts play an essential part in ensuring that every visitor has a positive and comfortable experience.
Main Responsibilities:
- Welcoming and serving customers with warmth and professionalism
- Preparing and displaying food ready for sale
- Operating café equipment, including coffee machines and tills
- Ensuring cleanliness and hygiene standards are upheld
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a smooth service
- Handling cash and card transactions confidently and accurately
Person Specification
Essential
- A genuine desire to serve people and create a great customer experience
- Strong team player who can also work independently when needed
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure
- Reliability and a strong work ethic
- Previous experience in a café or restaurant setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations
Desirable
Experience in any of the following areas is a plus:
- Food preparation and display
- Baking cakes and sweet treats
- Barista skills or previous café/coffee house experience
- Level 2 Food Hygiene certification
- Using IT/till-based service equipment for orders and payments
- Cash handling experience
