The Buckinghamshire Building Society is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced individual to join its busy mortgages department. In this challenging and varied role, you will be a key member of the mortgages team, acting as the key contact for brokers for handling new mortgage enquiries for the Society, ensuring that relationships are maintained and nurtured through prompt proactive communication within the agreed SLA timescales. Supporting the DIP decision making process within the agreed mandate, assisting as needed and referring cases to Underwriters, the Head of Underwriting, or Head of Mortgage Sales when appropriate, to ensure decisions are made accurately and in line with policy.

The main responsibilities of the Broker Liaison Assistant will include:
- To be act as a key contact for all broker calls regarding new mortgage loans criteria enquiries.
- Working with the Mortgage Administrators and Underwriters as requested to ensure that, as a team, all mortgages are processed effectively in a timely manner.
- Support the DIP decision-making process within the agreed mandate, assisting as needed and referring cases to Underwriters, the Head of Underwriting, or Head of Mortgage Sales when appropriate, to ensure decisions are made accurately and in line with policy.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the DIP team by assisting with the initial handling of enquiries, supporting the packaging of mortgage applications, and proactively following up with brokers to obtain outstanding documentation, ensuring cases progress smoothly and efficiently.
- Feedback to the Head of Mortgage Sales and Key Account Managers sources of new business to ensure that key relationships can be nurtured.
- Being a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Broker on-line in order to support and train brokers in submitting their applications.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Direct Advice team by assisting with the initial handling of enquiries, supporting the packaging of mortgage applications, and proactively following up with applicants to obtain outstanding documentation, ensuring cases progress smoothly and efficiently
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience gained in a mortgage department (essential).
- Previous experience of dealing with brokers (essential).
- Knowledge of MCOB, MCD and general regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office).
- Excellent attention to detail – able to identify errors.
- The ability to multi-skill, manage and prioritise own work loads, work under pressure and deliver SLAs.
