A Block Maker / Cast Stone Operative is required to join a small family company to help manufacture reconstituted stone walling blocks and dressing units.
You will be trained to make backing and facing mixes using selected materials to manufacture into finished products used in the construction industry. The successful applicant will load these materials by hand into large roll pan mixers used to mix the product to the required consistency. A combination of vibrating power tools and hand tamp block machines are used to compact the facing material and backing materials together to press out blocks or dressing units.
There will be an opportunity for candidates to learn how to finish the products before delivery to the customer. Other general labouring duties will be required from time to time including stacking down blocks onto pallets, wrapping pallets, cleaning mixers, keeping work areas tidy etc.
This position will require heavy lifting, manual labour and the use of power tools therefore candidates should be used to this type of work. Candidates will be required to manufacture an acceptable level of daily output in order to maintain customer lead times. Candidates should be reliable have a good attitude, be self-motivated, and follow instructions. Candidates should be willing to learn and have good attention to detail. Team work and the ability to work independently is key.
Full training will be given to the successful candidate.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent (Monday - Friday). Will consider Part-time (Monday - Thursday)
Salary: Full Time - 39 hours at £12.50 per hour + 6 hours at £18.75 per hour over time. This is a combined hourly rate of £13.33 per hour during a normal working week.
Part Time - 35 hours at £12.50 per hour.
