Position Overview & Job Purpose
As a Barista at Hot Numbers, you will work cohesively with the rest of the team to ensure exceptional customer service, quality coffee preparation, and efficient workflow. Your first point of contact will be the Head Barista of your store, and your line manager will be the Café Manager. This role involves continual learning and development with hands-on tasks to ensure the overall success of all things coffee.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow company recipes and standards to prepare and deliver beverages that meet Hot Numbers standards as set by the Head of Coffee.
- Collaborate with the Head Barista to ensure all coffee is brewed correctly, equipment is well-maintained, and coffee beans are fresh and properly stored.
- Manage the flow of operations behind the bar to ensure efficiency and productivity.
- Work with the Café Manager and Assistant Manager to maintain an excellent level of cleanliness, organisation, and hygiene in the café.
- Provide excellent customer service, greeting customers and ensuring they feel welcomed.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, including regular cleaning of all coffee-related equipment.
- Monitor restocks of coffee beans, tea, and other supplies, keeping track of inventory and communicating with the Head Barista when products are low.
- Have a good understanding of speciality coffee, including origins, varieties, processing methods, and flavour profiles.
- Operate espresso machines and other coffee brewing equipment with precision and care.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends, techniques, and innovations in the speciality coffee industry.
- Follow Health and Safety policies, processes, safe working practices, and SFBB standards as shown in the training document.
- Understand and comply with company fire procedures.
- Identify designated first aiders and understand emergency protocols.
- Carry out other duties as required or directed by the Management team.
Job-Related Skills
- Good understanding of speciality coffee, including origins, varieties, processing methods, and flavour profiles.
- Ability to operate espresso machines and other coffee brewing equipment with precision and care.
- Staying up to date with the latest trends, techniques, and innovations in the speciality coffee industry.
Knowledge, Personal Attributes & Skills Required
- Proficient in multitasking, including customer engagement, order handling, drink preparation, table clearing, and collaboration with kitchen staff.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and think of solutions in high-pressure environments to ensure the flow of service is not affected.
- Help maintain a positive and motivating work environment.
- Ability to work closely with Head Baristas and the FOH team for success in this role.
Please note that we apply 18 to 21-year-old salary rates were applicable.
