Our busy and friendly Cafe team are looking to expand with this new role for a baker/kitchen assistant. The Yew Tree Garden Centre is a privately owned garden centre located on The Hampshire/Berkshire border around 2 miles south of Newbury.
Each day we bake a wide selection of scones and cakes and produce hot and cold meals including daily specials all made from scratch using locally sourced ingredients where possible.
You will report to and work closely with the Head Baker assisting with the baking of our many cakes and scones and helping the chefs with food preparation and food service. This position is working Wednesdays and every alternate weekend, from 8am - 5pm.

Responsibilities
- Assist in food preparation and cooking tasks under the supervision of chefs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workspaces and equipment.
- Ensure adherence to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Participate in baking and food production as needed.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
- Support inventory management by monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering supplies.
Skills required:
- No commercial experience is required as we are happy to train the right applicant but you will have a passion for baking and for cooking real food in general.
- A creative flair and passion for delivering a high quality food experience to the customer
- The drive and enthusiasm to progress your career within the company.
- Own transport is essential due to the location
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £12.30-£14.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 18 per week
