The opportunity As an Associate Lecturer (AL) with a focus on design teaching, you will be working with students in the second year of the two-year MA Architecture Programme, part of the Spatial Practices Programme at Central Saint Martins. The course explores design as research and is organised around three thematic lenses of Identity & Equity, Climate & Ecology and Publics & Commons. You should have expertise in how these intersecting areas relate to the expanded field of architecture and critical spatial practices. To support our students' creative production and experimentation, you should have a strong interest in regenerative design, as it is the core principle of the course. We are looking for design tutors to guide a student group through their Major Project (thesis design project), which constitutes the second year of study. Tutors will facilitate student-led enquiries, helping students articulate individual design briefs and experiment with various working methods. In addition, you will share up-to-date knowledge, expertise, and your experience of professional practice and/or research in the specialist subject area as outlined above. Your responsibilities will include a combination of tutorials and a program of regular group seminars and/or lectures. Your will be responsible for preparing course material, teaching, administration, and assessment feedback. By collaborating closely with the stage and course leaders, as well as the team of design, contextual studies, climate, and technical tutors, you will make a significant contribution to the quality of learning and the support our students receive, enabling them to successfully complete their studies. Further information on the M-Arch Architecture course should be viewed on the course pages before application: https://www.arts.ac.uk/subjects/architecture-spatial-and-interior-design/postgraduate/m-arch-architecture-csm Your profile This role is open to candidates who have completed their BA or MA in relevant fields and have at least three years of industry experience. In your supporting statement, please provide a paragraph or two explaining why you are interested in the role and how it relates to your skills, experience and interests.
