Would you like an exciting opportunity to join a growing business? Due to growth, we are looking for an Arborist to join our experienced team on a permanent basis.
As Arborist for the Crown Group, this role plays a crucial role in maintaining safe and efficient rail operations by ensuring vegetation near railway lines is managed effectively.
Key responsibilities
- Vegetation Clearance
Cut back overgrown vegetation, including trees, shrubs, and grass, from trackside areas.
Remove plants obstructing signals, signage, or impeding visibility for train drivers.
Fencing
- Tree and Branch Removal
Safely fell trees and remove overhanging branches that pose a risk to railway infrastructure.
Cutting low shrubs
Use chainsaws and other specialist equipment following safety procedures.
- Routine Inspections and Risk Assessment
Assist with visual inspections of vegetation along rail corridors.
Identify potential hazards (e.g., diseased trees, landslip risks) and report them to supervisors.
- Equipment Operation and Maintenance
Operate hand tools, brush cutters, hedge trimmers, strimmer's, and chainsaws.
Maintain and inspect equipment to ensure safe operation.
Work as part of a team, communicate clearly with team members, supervisors, and office teams.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills
- PTS (Personal Track Safety) certification.
- LANTRA or NPTC certification for chainsaw or strimming tickets
- Basic knowledge of railway infrastructure and vegetation risks.
- Good physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in all conditions.
