Bicester Vets are looking for an Animal Care Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. Animal Care Assistants work in a close-knit unit to support the entire veterinary team and help build the foundations of the day-to-day running of the practice.
Tasks will include:
· Maintaining cleanliness standards including infection control
· Cleaning, packing and preparing surgical equipment for use
· Setting up the operating theatre and opening sterile equipment for laparoscopic and orthopaedic surgeries
· Assisting vets and nurses with animal handling and restraint
· Running samples in the in-house laboratory
· Assisting with stock control and rotation
· Supervising work experience students
The right applicant should be passionate about caring for animals in the veterinary environment, with a desire to progress onto veterinary nursing in the future.
Hours of work involve alternating weeks of 8am-4pm, 10am-6pm and 2pm-10pm, plus every third Saturday 8am-2pm.
You will require:
- 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 (C) or above to include English Language, Maths and Science.
- A further qualification, such as A levels or NVQ/Diploma Level 3.
- Previous animal handling experience is preferred.
