Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Activity Assistant to join our team in providing enriching experiences for residents in our care home. The ideal candidate will have a passion for residents care, particularly in nursing home and assisted living settings. You will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents, especially those living with dementia, by facilitating engaging activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and implementing daily activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Engage residents in various activities such as arts and crafts, games, music sessions, and physical exercises.
- Foster a warm and welcoming environment by encouraging participation and social interaction among residents.
- Communicate effectively with residents to understand their preferences and needs, ensuring their comfort and enjoyment during activities.
- Monitor residents during activities to ensure safety and provide assistance as needed.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to identify residents who may benefit from additional support or tailored activities.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback on activities to inform future planning.
Skills
- Previous experience in a nursing home or senior care environment is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dementia care practices is an advantage.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with seniors.
- A caring attitude with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of elderly individuals.
- Ability to work well within a team while also being self-motivated to initiate activities independently.
- Creative thinking skills to develop engaging programmes that cater to diverse resident needs.
