Role: Senior Care Assistant
Responsible to: Manager
Experience required:
- Level 2 Health and Social Care and level 3
- 2 Years’ Experience in Care Home environment
- Safe Handling of Medicines Level 2 desirable
Purpose ·
Be responsible to the registered Manager for the day-to-day running of the home including taking complete charge during the absence of the manager.
- To provide “On Call” duties as required.
- To operate within Health and Safety policy
- To liaise with GP and other professionals in supporting service users with their individual personal care
- To liaise with families and other advocates in supporting services users care.
- To formulate and review the service users individual and personal plan of care.
- To undertake and review service users risk assessments
- To formally and informally supervise care /domestic assistants
- Treat the service users with, Respect
- Protect the service users Privacy and Dignity at all times
- Promote Independence of service users
- Provide Personal care for the service users as agreed in their individual personal care plan.
- Provide Social activities and stimulation in accordance with the service users agreed plan of care
Principle Responsibilities
Provide assistance with the ordering, storing and administration of medication to service users, in line with the Medication Code of Practice and homes procedure, and in accordance with the assessed need of the service user.
Assist service users who need help with washing, dressing and undressing, bathing and toileting.
To respond, appropriately when a resident is unwell and refer to external professionals as required.
To be confident with First aid
Assist service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities such as incontinence, help in the case of aids and personal equipment, and requesting help in the way of professional assessment where required.
Maybe asked to work a mixture of days and nights to cover sickness and annual leave
Respond to the service users call for aid promptly.
Assist service users in the promotion of mental and physical activities through participating in scheduled activities and individual activities such has reading, crosswords writing and other hobbies
Cooking and serving meals, snacks and drinks, assistance with feeding where identified
Observing and recording service users, ensuring that their needs are being met as identified in their individual care plans. Noting and reporting any changes identified so as to contribute to the reviewing of individuals plan of care.
Ensure that all service users information is kept confidential and not disclosed to any parties outside, other than agreed professionals acting on behalf of the service user.
Respectfully greeting all visitors, and callers both on the telephone and in person.
Making and changing beds, tidy rooms and light cleaning and laundering.
Any other duties applicable to the role to ensuring that high standards are maintained
