As an Access Advisor, you will be the first point of contact for the Children, Adults and Health Department. Dealing with all initial enquiries and requests, you will play a key part in ensuring a variety of people are provided with straightforward advice and guidance, such as signposting or routing to relevant services.
What you will be doing:- Daily, you will provide support to families and individuals to access services, ensuring that clear information and guidance is provided or where appropriate the issue is referred.
- It will be key for you to maintain and update information systems and databases to ensure that details are recorded and updated accurately.
- Day to day, you will ensure that routine queries and problems are resolved and alternative courses of action are recommended if necessary.
- You will support the work of the team by sharing knowledge and experience to maximise the service provided.
- It will be your responsibility to relay any concerns accurately and promptly to the relevant professional within the team (following clearly set procedures). The nature of the contacts may be of a confidential and occasionally distressing nature, and you will therefore need to handle enquiries in a sensitive and professional way.
- You must hold an NVQ 2 or 3 GCSE’s grades C or above or an equivalent qualification in health and social care.
- We require you to have considerable experience of giving and receiving accurate information with experience/knowledge of processes and procedures related to children’s services, ideally gained in an environment related to children’s services or within a similar role.
- Ideally, you will have initiative and judgement to be able to resolve day-to-day problems independently.
- Please note that due to the nature of this role, it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained.
