JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title – Yard Operative & Driver
Reports to – Company Buyer
Job Overview
As a Yard Operative & Driver, you will help keep the yard safe, tidy, and well organised. Duties include receiving and storing materials, yard maintenance (e.g. weeding, moving items), recycling activities, and completing deliveries and collections in a company vehicle (HGV not required). The role requires a hands-on approach, attention to detail, and a focus on safety and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep the yard tidy and free from hazard
- Loading and unloading materials
- Deliver materials to and from site
- Assist in the set up and clear out of site to include erect fencing, building materials, pallets etc.
- Keeps yard premises locked and secured as required
- Receive and check incoming materials, then store them in the correct location
- Keeps routine work records and inventories when required
- Bale cardboard, plastic, and other recyclable materials as required
Skills and Competencies
- Organised and able to prioritise work
- Good communicative skills, you will work with various people across all sites
- Ability to work on your own or as part of a team
- Capable of receiving and following instructions and communicating with co-workers
- Ability to adhere to labels, safety warnings, and guidelines
- Attentive to details and always alert to ensure safety
You will be expected to have
- Clean driving license
- Experience of driving in a previous role
- Forklift license
- Knowledge of construction materials (desirable, not essential)
The successful candidate will receive a competitive hourly rate based on experience, along with the company benefits. Hours - 7:30am – 3:00pm, Monday to Friday. 30 minutes unpaid lunch.
- 21 days holiday, plus additional days awarded for long service at 2, 5, and 10 years
- Knowledge of construction materials (desirable, not essential)
