Position: Women's Recovery Practitioner
Location: Gloucester Women's Centre/VIA Hubs
Salary: £25,000 – £27,000 per annum dependent on experience
Hours: Full Time – 35 hours per week
Duration: Permanent

At The Nelson Trust, our mission is to ensure that any woman experiencing multiple-complex needs has the opportunity to access our Women's Centres, where she can get the support she needs. Our model offers gender-responsive, trauma-informed practical and emotional support to address unmet needs, including housing, substance misuse, health, finance, previous trauma, children and families, and education, training, and employment. We aim to reduce social harms and re-offending while empowering women to reach their full potential.

As a Women's Recovery Practitioner, you will provide holistic support for women with substance misuse needs in a gender-specific, trauma-informed service. You will work collaboratively with various support agencies to ensure continuity of care and help women achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of women with substance misuse needs.
  • Provide 1:1 practical and emotional support.
  • Facilitate group interventions and comprehensive assessments.
  • Collaborate with partner organisations and attend multi-agency meetings.
  • Deliver evidence-based psychosocial interventions and harm reduction advice.
  • Support women in their treatment journey to long-term recovery.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with women with multiple unmet needs and substance misuse.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches and the criminal justice system.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and work collaboratively with partner organisations.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of service users.

If you are dedicated to making a positive change in the lives of women, please apply today!

Due to the nature of the work carried out in our Women’s Centres, this role is restricted to female applicants only in accordance with the provisions of the occupational requirement (Equality Act 2010, pursuant to Schedule 9, Part 1).

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) as it involves access to vulnerable adults and/or children and successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced level Disclosure & Barring Service Check.

We have become known for the quality of our work and ability to provide bespoke care and support services. While we are proud of our achievements so far, we are ambitious and want to continue to grow and diversify our workforce.

We recognise that employees from different backgrounds bring unique knowledge, perspectives, and experiences, and we are committed to increasing the diversity of our workforce and welcome applications from individuals across all sectors of society.
