C2C is a Christian charity working across Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes, supporting people at risk of or involved in the criminal justice system. Our mission is to bring hope, restoration and long-term change by addressing root causes of offending and walking alongside individuals through tailored, person-centred support.
Role Purpose
We are looking for 2 Women’s Early Intervention Specialists to deliver one-to-one support to women at the earliest stages of contact with the criminal justice system. This includes those in or recently released from police custody, and women on conditional cautions. You will play a vital role in reducing reoffending by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour and bridging the gap between police contact and sustained community support.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new, 12-month pilot project aimed at demonstrating the effectiveness of early, trauma-informed intervention within police settings, Kettering Women’s Centre and in hubs within the community.
One year contract initially until August 2026
Occupational Requirement: Due to the nature of the role, and in line with Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010, this post is open to female applicants only.
Key Responsibilities
1. Direct Support & Casework
- Provide intensive one-to-one support to women (aged 18+) who are:
- In police custody
- Recently released from custody
- Subject to a conditional caution
- Deliver tailored support around:
- Accommodation and housing stability
- Mental and physical wellbeing
- Debt and money management
- Substance misuse
- Education, training, and employment
- Social networks and peer influences
2. Intervention Delivery
- Offer structured interventions over a period of up to three months (typically six sessions per client)
- Ensure trauma-informed, person-centred practice throughout
- Provide both 1:1 and small group sessions, as appropriate
3. Partnership Working
- Work closely with the Out of Court Resolutions team and police custody staff
- Provide weekly progress reports and communicate outcomes for those on conditional cautions

4. Monitoring & Evaluation
- Track engagement, outcomes and attitudinal changes toward offending
- Contribute to the evaluation of the pilot, demonstrating the impact of the model
5. Service Delivery Locations
- Deliver support from local police custody suites, Kettering Women’s Centre and community hubs
- Ensure accessible, discreet, and safe environments for all sessions
6. Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all individual and location-based risk assessments, implementing appropriate risk management strategies at all times
- Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures, including fire safety regulations in all delivery settings (e.g., custody suites, community hubs)
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of and compliance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), ensuring secure handling and storage of personal data
- Complete all required compliance training, including safeguarding, health and safety, GDPR, and data security
- Report any breaches of compliance or safety concerns promptly in line with organisational procedures
Person Specification
Essential:
- Proven experience supporting women in the criminal justice system, or similar vulnerable groups
- Strong understanding of the challenges faced by women offenders (e.g., trauma, abuse, poverty, housing)
- Skilled in delivering trauma-informed, person-centred interventions
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work flexibly, independently and as part of a team
- Experience of partnership working with statutory or criminal justice agencies
- Understanding of safeguarding and risk management procedures
- Experience of monitoring and evaluation processes, including data collection and reporting
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Commitment to confidentiality, data protection and safe information sharing
- Essential car user to enable access to all sites
Desirable Criteria
- Relevant qualification or experience in social work, criminal justice, psychology or related field
- Familiarity with trauma-informed language and inclusive communication approaches
- Understanding of the needs of service users within the criminal justice system or social disadvantage
Condition of Employment
This post is subject to Adult Workforce Regulations. Appointment and continuing employment will be subject to funding, the granting and maintaining of a satisfactory DBS and 2 suitable references. There may be a requirement for Police vetting.
Staff are required to ensure immediate notification to their line manager of any personal involvement in criminal justice services.
