We are currently looking for a Welder to join our fast paced Engineering department based at London Gateway Port in Stanford le Hope. In this role you will identify, develop, and produce welding solutions for a range of mechanical issues pertaining to all site equipment and site works. Additionally, to verify the integrity of metallic components and examine, test, repair, and report on all kinds of ferrous and non-ferrous welds.
The role will incorporate working a shift pattern consisting of 12-hour days.
About the role:
- As sess, design and fabricate solutions to various mechanical problems relating to all site equipment and site works.
- Inspect, test, repair and report on all types of ferrous and non-ferrous welds.
- Inspect and test integrity of metallic components, including use of non-destructive testing methods;
- Ensure all required data is entered in to asset management system in order to maintain accurate information during the life time of the assets;
- Provide support for the development of the necessary method statements and risk assessments related to the activities of the workshop & mobile equipment and cranes section;
- Maintain high equipment availability, reliability and safety in line with goals and objectives of LG Asset Management strategy;
- To coach Apprentices and Technicians in methods of fabrication, including: welding, gas cutting, grinding and machining;
- To assist the Engineering Team in general duties as time permits, including assisting Shift Teams with routine maintenance and breakdowns
- Execute repair and maintenance activities according LG engineering processes, procedures and safety regulations;
- Assist the team in the implementation of H&S policies and procedures in the maintenance organization; To ensure that method statements and risk assessments of all the repair and maintenance
What will you Bring.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- City & Guild / NVQ Level 3 (Or equivalent) qualification in heavy steel fabrication and welding.
- ESSENTIAL : Previously coded to standard BS EN ISO 9606-1 111(MMA) Structural positional welding
- Candidates with a fabrication welding apprenticeship or a minimum of 3 years' experience applying their welding skills in a fabrication and repair environment will be given strong consideration.
- Previous experience working on Port/Heavy machinery environment;
- Competent with various types of NDT (Non-destructive testing) Desirable;
- Competent with various machine tools;
- Competency in oxy/gas cutting and gas heating;
- Competency in Plasma cutting;
- Previous experience with confined space and working at height; Possesses experience in MAG and TIG welding techniques;
