WAREHOUSE OPERATIVE
JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose of this Role:
The purpose of this role is to support the smooth running of our warehouse and wider business operations through hands-on, practical tasks.
As a Warehouse Operative, you’ll play a key role in managing equipment, stock, and other physical resources. Your work will help keep things moving efficiently and safely behind the scenes. This is an active, physical role that requires strength, attention to detail, and a can-do attitude. While core responsibilities are outlined, the nature of the role is dynamic—you may occasionally be asked to assist with tasks beyond the standard duties listed below.
Please note that this role requires the ability to do heavy lifting.
The ideal candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategy and Development
a. Follow established company policies and procedures to ensure smooth and effective day-to-day operations.
b. Take responsibility for identifying and reporting any issues or inefficiencies that may impact the customer journey or overall business performance, so they can be addressed by the appropriate team.
1. Administration
a. Respond to emails, WhatsApp’s, Telephone calls from Customers and Suppliers in a timely, efficient, and friendly manner.
b. Keep an accurate record of stock sent out and returned.
c.
i. Each staff member within the Company is entitled to two free bags of product a month. Keep a record of the stock taken by each team member.
d.
i. Preparing any marketing collateral required for use at markets, events, and other sales activities. This includes staff uniforms, price lists, gifting, sample packs, etc.
ii. Support any marketing or sales projects as required.
e.
i. Keep an accurate record of equipment in use, required, in need of repair or replacement in conjunction with the Operations Manager
ii. Conduct research as and when requested on services, products, etc. that may be of use to the Company in its course of business.
iii. Clean, refresh and restock the kit boxes for the Markets & Events in line with the check lists.
iv. Prepare the cash boxes for markets and events in accordance with the Company requirements. This includes ensuring all hardware is fully charged and software is up to date.
2. Warehouse
a. Process orders from Biltong Boss Website, Biltong Boss App, Fresho, Rosetta daily. This includes any orders received via email, WhatsApp, or telephone.
b. Take stock weekly or as required in the Warehouse and capture in any reports as required.
c. Highlight any areas of concern and where known shortfalls on any orders that need to be fulfilled in that week to Management to include in the weekly order from Suppliers.
d. Monitor DHL daily, for accurate deliveries and raise challenges when they occur at the earliest opportunity. Follow up with DHL on non-deliveries, part deliveries, etc.
e. Where required or instructed inform Customers of any delays in delivery or shortfalls / out-of-stock items ordered.
f. Return the stock from the weekend or the day after a market or event to ensure that the oldest stock is circulated out first.
g. Pack stock boxes for markets and events as required.
h. Ensure that the Warehouse is always kept neat and tidy.
i. Receive stock into the Warehouse and process as needed.
j. When required deliver the packages for delivery to customers directly to the depot for DHL or any other supplier that the Company may choose to use from time to time.
Hours of Work:
Standard hours of work are as follows:
· Monday – 08:00 – 16:00
· Tuesday – 09:00 – 16:00
· Friday – 09:00 – 16:00
· Saturday – 11:00 – 19:00
i. You will be required to attend one full day each month to conduct a comprehensive stock take, which typically takes place on either the last or first day of the month, depending on the business schedule.
*From time to time, you will be required to work outside of these normal hours. The Company will endeavour to communicate this to you with sufficient notice.
The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the Company.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: £12.21 per hour
