Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Regulatory Advisor to join our dynamic and growing veterinary group. This pivotal role ensures our operations across multiple sites aligns with all relevant veterinary legislation, regulatory standards, and best practices, and supports our clinical, and other teams, across the UK and Ireland.

The successful candidate will work closely with veterinary teams, senior management, and external bodies to ensure consistent compliance and regulatory excellence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to veterinary legislation, including prescribing, dispensing, and clinical governance regulations, with a working knowledge of other regulatory requirements, eg: GDPR, H&S that affect our practices and other businesses.
  • Policy Development: Create and implement regulatory policies to maintain legal and ethical compliance across all sites, including collaborating in policy creation for other central functions from a veterinary perspective.
  • Audit & Reporting: Have a good working knowledge of the RCVS practice standards scheme, supported by our PSS advisors.
  • Training & Education: Provide guidance and training to veterinary professionals on regulatory requirements and changes, including supporting our practices to undertake clinical QI with the clinical board, operations team, L&D etc.
  • QI: To help disseminate positive simple practice level clinical QI projects to share with the wider group
  • R&D: Support the delivery of aspects of R&D related work, acting as a liaison between central teams and practices.
  • Liaison with Authorities: Act as the main point of contact for regulatory and related bodies, including the RCVS, VMD, VCI, VCMS, VDS and DEFRA.
  • Incident Management: Assist in investigating and resolving regulatory breaches
  • Complaint Support: Support practices, and our other businesses, with management of more complex complaints, and manage escalated complaints.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry changes and advise on best practices in veterinary regulation.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Veterinary-related degree with experience with the veterinary regulatory environment.
  • Strong complaints management experience with a great customer service ethos.
  • Strong understanding of UK veterinary laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working in a multi-site veterinary or healthcare organisation is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with internal teams and regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to manage documentation efficiently.
  • Occasional business travel required
