An Underwriting Support role is critical within the Underwriting and Post Offer/Completions Operational Teams of StrideUp.

The position sits within the Operational Function of StrideUp, and the role holder will report directly to the Underwriting Team Manager. Key responsibilities encompass the whole journey for applications submitted either via our Brokers or directly from our customers for both Residential Home Purchase Plans and Buy to Let finance.

Irrespective of the distribution route, the Underwriting Support team member will work closely with the Underwriting Team Manager and the Underwriters, to enable applications to progress through the Underwriting stage through to Offer. Ultimately, ensuring the application is handed over to the Post Offer and Completions team in a timely manner.

The Underwriting Support role provides the opportunity to contribute substantially to StrideUp’s values of promoting responsible lending and customer-centric Home Purchase Plans.

The Underwriting Support role is key in driving cases and applications through the application process from a DIP (Decision in Principle) submission, through to taking the application into the Solicitor and conveyancing stage of a Home Purchase or Buy to Let purchase plan.

Requirements

  • Underwriting - support the Underwriters with tasks that do not require a lending mandate
  • Work closely with the Underwriting Team Manager to keep up to date with sales vs business target
  • Full awareness of all AML considerations. A full working knowledge of StrideUp’s AML requirements is essential to mitigate any risk.
  • Ensure that all applications, regardless of type or stage, are worked within agreed SLAs
  • Keep up to date with product and process changes to ensure the correct outcome is reached
  • Prepare new Fees Paid for both Residential Home Purchase Plans & Buy To Let Purchase Plans - completing Land Registration checks, Energy Performance Certificates validity, and instructing valuations
  • Valuations - when the valuation on a property has been completed, assess the valuation and clearly document the findings, alerting the Underwriter to any concerns or anomalies to the original instruction
  • Valuation Fees - send relevant invoices as requested
  • Product Fee - send relevant invoices and ensure payment within the specific timeframe
  • Signed Offer- ensure these are completed by customer within the expiry date of the Offer to ensure the Offer remains valid
  • Product Transfers -utilise StrideUp’s contact strategy of 90,60,30 day timetable and send options to customers
  • Assessing Residential DIPs (Decision in Principle) - applications that have not been automatically accepted on the system - ensuring affordability and criteria is met
  • Assessing Broker DIPs (Decision In Principle) - ensuring affordability and criteria is met
  • Generating Financial Information Statements(FIS) for Brokers
  • CRA searches as appropriate
  • Accept challenges and Ad-hoc project work to support the business growth

Top Skills/Experience Required

  • Experience of preparing case files for Underwriters
  • Working within a Financial Services environment
  • Working within an environment where SLAs are key to success
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g. MCOB and Responsible
  • Lending,and mortgage/HPP industry awareness would be an advantage
  • Experience of managing a pipeline of cases
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
