Role:
Fit, balance, and install wheels and Truck tyres to TIA safety standards, delivering high-quality workmanship and service. Also be part of the warehouse operative team when and if required.
Key Duties:
- commercial light trucks, and commercial vehicles.
- Mount, demount, and balance tyres using workshop equipment.
- Inspect wheels and tyres for wear or damage.
- Inflate tyres to correct pressures and torque wheel nuts to spec.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all safety procedures.
Requirements:
- Experience as a tyre fitter (TIA certification a plus).
- Skilled in wheel balancing and tyre changing.
- Physically fit, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented.
Purpose of Role:
To perform tyre and wheel service work in compliance with Tyre Industry Association (TIA) guidelines, ensuring all tasks are carried out safely, efficiently, and to industry standards.
Core Duties:
- Tyre Mounting & Demounting – Safely mount and demount tyres from wheels using TIA-approved procedures and equipment.
- Wheel Balancing – Accurately balance wheel assemblies to prevent vibration and ensure vehicle safety.
- Tyre Inflation – Inflate tyres to manufacturer-specified pressures using a calibrated air pressure gauge and safety inflation device.
- Wheel Installation – Install wheel and tyre assemblies, tightening fasteners in the correct sequence and torqueing to specification.
- Inspection & Assessment – Inspect tyres, wheels, and related components for wear, damage, and compliance with DOT and OEM standards.
- Record Keeping – Complete work orders, service records, and inspection reports accurately.
- Workplace Safety – Maintain a safe and clean work area; wear PPE as required; follow TIA safety protocols at all times.
- Customer Service – Communicate clearly with customers about findings, recommendations, and safe operation of tyres.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Experience in tyre and wheel service (commercial and/or passenger).
- TIA Certification in Passenger and Light Truck Tyre Service or Commercial Tyre Service (preferred).
- Knowledge of torque specifications, bead seating safety, and lock ring handling (if applicable).
- Ability to use tyre changers, wheel balancers, and inflation cages per TIA procedures.
- Strong focus on safety and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and handle tyres and wheels safely (up to 50 kg).
- Prolonged standing, bending, and manual handling.
