An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Fellow to join the team of Specialist Registrars in our Eye Infirmary in Plymouth. There will be opportunity to work within Glaucoma, Medical Retina or Paediatrics.
This post is intended for applicants who are near the end of a postgraduate ophthalmology training, or practicing ophthalmologists with similar experience, who are looking to develop further their practical clinical expertise.
Applicants with less experience could also be considered.
This post will offer training and experience in the field of medical retina/glaucoma, but we will also consider other sub-specialist areas. We will provide cataract surgery training to interested candidates.
The REI has recently moved to a new purpose-built building, the three-storey unit will see an increased number of treatment rooms, expanded paediatric facilities and better access for patients.. The new site includes a dedicated high flow cataract theatre and will also see the addition of a third theatre. This third theatre will further increase our capacity to treat sub-specialities, such as oculoplastic, orbital and corneal surgeries where patients are currently waiting longer than we would like.
The REI new build gives us the space and facilities to continue to develop an excellent future service, both locally and across the region as a specialist centre.
2025 promises to be a big year for the REI!
