We are looking to recruit to the post of Travel Compliance & Monitoring Assistant to work closely with professional colleagues and support our clients by providing comprehensive monitoring and compliance to Council’s contracted operators on Home to School Transport.
This post will be based at our Hellaby Depot within the Travel Planning Team. You will be part of a dedicated and supportive team, all of whom aim to provide a high quality, compliant and efficient service. We are looking for someone who has a good undertstanding of transport operations and the associated risks related to compliance. You will be part of a team providing an essential and valuable service to our customers as well as supporting internal operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience of contract compliance and monitoring in a service that provide travel solutions to vulnerable children and adults. You should have excellent customer service skills, be well-organised and demonstrate flexibility in your approach to both the role and work base as you will be required to conduct visits at various locations inside and outside the Borough.
A Council fleet vehicle will be available to undertake visits and so a full UK Driving Licence is essential. It is also desirable to hold Category D1 entitlement to drive minibuses, as this may be required on occasions.
The role is to ensure operators working on Home to School Transport comply with their obligations under the contract arrangements. You will assist in investigating incidents and allegations, documenting reports and compliance checks and providing supporting evidence to the Travel Planning Team. You will liaise with schools, parents and carers, providing technical knowledge on suitable transport arrangements for children with special education needs.

Until 31st March 2026 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a monthly deduction from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded three additional days leave (pro rata for part-time).
