Transport Team Leader – Day Shift (Monday to Friday, 9:30–18:30)

About the Role
Berkmann Wine Cellars is seeking an experienced and proactive Transport Team Leader to oversee day-to-day operations at our West Thurrock depot. This position plays a key role in coordinating our delivery function, working closely with drivers, customer service teams, and our third-party logistics partner, London City Bond (LCB).
Enjoy an excellent work-life balance with structured hours — Monday to Friday, 9:30 to 18:30 — with no night shifts or weekend working required.
Key Responsibilities
- Effectively manage driver scheduling and resource planning
- Serve as the main point of contact between drivers and internal teams
- Oversee vehicle checks and ensure fleet compliance and presentation
- Coordinate returns, failed deliveries, and emergency dispatches
- Conduct daily driver debriefs and monitor delivery performance
- Maintain accurate records on driver attendance, vehicle inspections, and delivery issues
- Support continuous process improvements and uphold health and safety standards
Skills, Experience and Attributes
The ideal candidate will bring:
- Proven experience in a transport or logistics coordination role
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Experience with transport planning or tracking systems (desirable)
- Solid geographical knowledge of Greater London
- A full UK driving licence (maximum 6 points)
- A calm, professional approach under pressure
- An understanding of GDPR and confidentiality practices
- Knowledge of fleet and H&S compliance standards
Working Hours & Work-Life Balance
- Monday to Friday shift, 9:30–18:30
