Permanent, full time, 37 hours per week.
We are looking for an exceptional Trading Standards Officer with a ‘can do’ attitude, who will report to the Trading Standards Manager.
The post-holder will deliver the range of Trading Standards statutory functions, including those related to Product Safety, Illicit Tobacco and Vapes, Consumer Rights, and Metrology.
Preferably the post holder will hold Weights and Measures, and, Feed qualifications.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A proven track record of achievement in problem solving and achieving compliance including through partnership working
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to interpret and apply legislation, communicate well at all levels, prepare, and write reports and be able to present facts and negotiate in a balanced manner
- Experience of working with the public, carrying out investigations and inspections and a knowledge of relevant legislation.
You will play an important part in building the Trading Standards function.
Ideally, you’ll have a relevant Trading Standards qualifications but we’re very happy to receive applications from anyone with relevant knowledge and enforcement experience willing to undertake formal training. The Council will offer appropriate support to successful candidates in their professional development.

Until 31st March 2026 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a monthly deduction from each pay period over the full financial year.
