Lead an RSD team of 2-3 persons whilst undertaking an active role in the unloading of palletised incoming waste prior to acceptance inspection by Chemist. Once inspected, this waste will require segregation and storage in appropriate storage bays.
Working hours: 3 rotating shifts (5:00-14:00/ 13:00-22:00/21:30-5:30)
Key Responsibilities:
- To lead an RSD team of typically 2-3 persons.
- To ensure the team is working towards and achieving relevant KPIs.
- To organise activities for team members in an effective and efficient manner to meet the requirements of the business, and to review and adjust these activities on an ongoing basis
- Ensure all administrative tasks, recording, checks and reporting is undertaken by the team
- Communicate and liaise effectively with other teams on site to ensure appropriate allocation of resources and effective movement of materials on site.
- Complete all pre-use FLT inspections, reporting any faults to Management.
- Complete and record PUWER safety checks on any equipment or tools used.
- Safely operate a counterbalance FLT in line with the company’s P.A.S.S policy.
- Weighing of incoming loads on the site weighbridge prior to unloading the vehicle.
- Control of vehicle movements on site (if trained as a banksman)
- Unloading of incoming loads into inspection bays for Chemist to inspect the load.
- Weighing of individual items on pallet scales if they are priced by weight.
- Separation and segregation of inspected waste to ensure all waste placed into storage bays are not leaking, are safe/compliant without the chance of collapse occurring and waste is compatible to be stored in storage bay in line with HSG 71 Chemical Warehousing: The Storage of Packaged Dangerous Substances and Environmental Permit with all labels for waste are visible.
- Ensure maximum storage capacity in storage bays is achieved by repalletizing material to allow it to be double stacked upon or for it be used as a top stack.
- Housekeeping activities including sweeping, litter picking and drum crushing.
- Loading of outgoing vehicles
- Promote a positive Health and Safety driven environment – reporting near misses at a KPI of 1 per month and rectifying any potential concerns for Health and Safety readily.
- To perform other duties as reasonably required by the business
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid FLT Counterbalance licence.
- Previous experience in a similar role (preferred but not essential).
- Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to operate safely within a hazardous chemical environment.
- Comfortable with a manual, hands-on approach to tasks.
