Overview of the role

The role of the Team Leader is to provide support and guidance to a team of social care workers, whilst making sure you always provide the highest level of care and lead by example. You will also liaise with the seniors in the home reporting any matters of concern. You must have experience in the care sector and have the willingness to learn and expand on your previous knowledge. Not only will you make a huge difference to people’s lives, but you’ll be able to enjoy days out, trips away and join in with many more activities, all of which ensures the people we work with are safe, happy and lead fulfilling lives.

Key duties

  • Taking the lead with supporting adults with learning disabilities and complex needs in a residential care environment
  • Supervising a team and assisting with the overall management of the home
  • Liaising with managers and other shift leaders
  • Executing any tasks allocated in a professional, timely and accurate manner
  • Supervising and sharing mealtimes with residents to encourage a positive attitude towards food and dining
  • Assisting residents in their daily activities whether this be in or away from the home
  • Using your initiative when supporting residents during their activities and with day-to-day tasks

Where will you work?

Winton Lodge is a large, nine-bedroom residential home supporting residents with mild to severe learning disabilities and complex needs, such as autism, and mental health conditions. All current residents are able to communicate verbally. In a pleasant residential setting, close to the centre of Bournemouth, Winton Lodge has its own activities room, which gives residents a space to participate in individual and group activities, like painting and puzzling. Others enjoy gardening in the large, sunny, private garden. An experienced staff team support those living at Winton Lodge to develop independence and life skills. The Positive Behaviour Support Team work with each individual and staff to ensure emotional and mental wellbeing needs are understood and met.
