LET’S CUT STRAIGHT TO IT
We’re looking for a Strategic Wastewater Planning Analyst to help us deliver our Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans.
This role provides an exciting opportunity to influence and develop sustainable long-term drainage and wastewater strategic thinking across Severn Trent. As a strategic wastewater planning analyst you will develop and maintain wastewater strategies covering sewerage and wastewater treatment aligning to long-term wastewater performance ambitions, regulatory environmental targets and statutory obligations.
Key to this role will be innovative process development and data analytics to understand current and future wastewater performance pressures. This will inform development of business plans to address critical asset performance whilst having an appreciation of future demands on our waste assets, whether it be climate change, new development, asset condition, urban creep or sewer misuse. Through the development of adaptive risk intervention strategies your input will help Severn Trent deliver proactive catchment planning, enabling intervention measures to be delivered efficiently and in a timely manner.
As part of this role you will actively support engagement with key external stakeholders, especially Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities and Local Planning Authorities to provide insight and opportunities to influence future development plans. You will coordinate with wastewater hydraulic engineers, operations and environmental teams to implement plans and promote resilience in wastewater operations.
You'll be based at our office in Raynesway Derby. You’ll work within our Asset Strategy Team. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week, WFH flexibility available and travel to other sites will be required at times so you’ll need to hold a full U.K driving licence.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
To be successful you’ll need good understanding of sewerage systems (covering storm overflows, pollutions, flooding and blockages), have an awareness of its interactions with wastewater treatment, have an understanding of hydraulic design principles and the ability to appreciate how future demands could impact on intervention strategies.
With experience of data analysis and complex problem solving, the successful candidate will need to be capable of writing succinct technical reports, as well as compelling business case papers. Experience of implementing new processes and procedures from plans into business as usual will also form a key part of this role. Experience of environmental regulation and asset management is desirable.
As you will be required to work closely with our consultants and have good communication and leadership skills. You will also require the ability to effectively engage with internal stakeholders, varying from operational frontline staff to Strategic Leaders and be able to represent Severn Trent when interacting with our external partners.
