The Strategy and Planning team ensures every message aligns with the FCA’s strategy and is planned for maximum impact. Through sharing knowledge and measuring results, we refine our approach and elevate our performance. We create and evaluate the annual Communications Plan, ensuring it delivers with precision and purpose.
In this role, you’ll plan and coordinate our external speaking engagements, manage requests for FCA speakers, guide colleagues on which opportunities align with our priorities and advise on how each engagement can amplify our voice and influence.
What will you be doing?
- Run the speaker request mailbox, ensuring all requests are accurately logged, tracked and responded to with care and efficiency
- Build and nurture positive relationships with external stakeholders, providing thoughtful responses and maintaining strong connections with key partners
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the FCA to explore speaking opportunities, offering supportive communications advice and directing them to relevant training and resources
- Facilitate inclusive meetings to review speaking engagement requests, ensuring all communications perspectives are valued in decision-making
- Recommend and champion speaking platforms where senior leaders can share insights on priority topics that inspire and connect with audiences
- Proactively identify and share upcoming speaking opportunities to support forward-looking and coordinated communications planning
- Support the work of the wider Strategy and Planning team

Minimum
- Experience in managing and coordinating multiple concurrent projects or workflows, demonstrating the ability to track and oversee a large volume of information across varied outputs
- Prior experience applying strong attention to detail and organisational skills to deliver accurate, high-quality work within agreed deadlines
Essential
- Prior experience constructively challenging internal and external stakeholders, escalating issues when necessary to achieve optimal outcomes
- Proven ability to influence, negotiate and manage upwards with confidence, using persuasive and collaborative communication skills
- Demonstrated experience managing complex situations with competing priorities, balancing diverse team perspectives to reach fair, well-reasoned conclusions
- Skilled at responding with diplomacy, tact and empathy in all interactions, including challenging circumstances, while representing organisational values
- Confident in engaging with demanding external stakeholders, maintaining positive, professional and productive relationships
- Understanding of organisational structures, the financial services sector and the external event landscape, including how events are planned and prioritised
