An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Stores Controller at our depot in Longport, Stoke-on-Trent. As a Stores Controller, you will be instrumental in the smooth running of the warehouse and will get involved into the full range of the department operations, including production orders, receiving, picking, packing, sorting, data inputting and auditing.
This would suit a candidate who enjoys a variety of tasks and the challenge of problem solving and operating on demanding schedules. Role will suit someone who is happy to work independently and is well practiced in managing their own time.
The role will include:
- Accurate and efficient picking, and processing of orders internally.
- Updating the system, high computer usage dealing with journals, production orders, updating fixed bins and generally maintaining the MRP system.
- Processing core items, completing the system process and communicating with departments to complete returns.
- Completing transfer orders.
- Complete cycle counts daily.
- Transport requests for the movement of stock including larger items, such as bogies
- Timely completion of paperwork
- Timely resolution of errors and omissions, actioning problems initially as they arise, and understanding when to escalate to the relevant persons.
- Offloading deliveries and loading collections
You will be working a 2 week alternating shift pattern:
Week 1: Mon to Fri 06:00 – 14:00
Week 2: Mon to Thur 11:00 – 19:00 Fri 09:00 - 17:00
We would love you to bring:
- Previous experience of warehouse operations, ideally in a store’s environment.
- Fork Truck Counterbalance and Flexi truck licences.
- Manual Handling Certificate or willing to achieve this
- Good IT skills including spread sheets and MRP systems
- A proactive and energetic approach with an appetite to resolve issues
- A strong commitment towards customer satisfaction & health and safety
- A track record of operating to quality standards and within Standard Operating Procedures
- Be tactful when handling objections or obstacles to meeting objectives
- An ability to make decisions in a timely and appropriate manner
- An ability to identify cost saving initiatives, opportunities to improve efficiency as well as quality improvement.
- Good level of physical fitness
- You’ll need to be based close to our Longport, Stoke-on-Trent depot and have a valid right to work in the UK
