Role Overview
We are seeking a Skilled Body Builder / Workshop Assembly Specialist to lead and work within our workshop team. This hands-on role involves the precise assembly and fitting of structural metalwork, pipework, and electrification kits (including electric motors, control units, and cabling). The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work closely with our R&D and engineering teams, helping to develop and build prototype projects, contributing ideas, and shaping new product innovations.

Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and fit metal structures, frameworks, and fabricated components according to drawings and specifications.
- Install and secure pipework systems, ensuring correct routing, alignment, and fit.
- Carry out electrification installations, including mounting electric motors, control panels, and routing electrical cabling.
- Work to a high standard of finish, ensuring all installations are neat, accurate, and durable.
- Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams on prototype builds, assisting with new designs and providing practical feedback from assembly.
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, schematics, and technical instructions.
- Use workshop tools and equipment safely and effectively (cutting, welding, drilling, fastening, etc.).
- Lead and coordinate a small team, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and providing guidance.
- Ensure health & safety standards are maintained at all times.
- Support and mentor less experienced team members, promoting a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
Skills & Experience Required
- 6+ years’ experience in workshop assembly, fabrication, or vehicle body building.
- Strong skills in fitting and assembling metalwork and pipework systems.
- Practical knowledge of installing electric motors, wiring, and cabling within mechanical assemblies.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Keen eye for detail to ensure clean, accurate, and safe installations.
- Previous experience leading or supervising a team in a workshop environment.
- Strong understanding of workshop health & safety practices.
Nice to Have
- Welding and fabrication skills (MIG, TIG, or stick).
- Experience in vehicle body building, coachbuilding, or specialist vehicle assembly.
- Knowledge of materials handling, jigs, and fixture use.
- Experience working on electrification projects or EV conversions.
- Formal apprenticeship or vocational training in mechanical or fabrication disciplines.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £32,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
