We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen staff by ensuring that food preparation and meal assembly processes run smoothly. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about food safety and have a keen interest in the culinary arts, whether in a restaurant, catering, or other kitchen environments.
Responsibilities
- Assist in food preparation and meal assembly according to established recipes and standards.
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout all kitchen operations.
- Support chefs and cooks with various tasks, including chopping vegetables, preparing ingredients, and plating dishes.
- Help with the cleaning and organisation of kitchen equipment, utensils, and workspaces to ensure a tidy environment.
- Participate in stock management by checking inventory levels and assisting with ordering supplies as needed.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient service during busy periods.
- Follow all health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
Experience
- Previous experience in a kitchen or catering environment is preferred but not essential; enthusiasm for culinary work is highly valued.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and practices is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being capable of taking initiative when required.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in food preparation tasks.
- A willingness to learn and develop new skills within the culinary field is essential.
