We specialise in providing all aspects of production for weddings, private parties, Live music events, corporate events and conferences.As we continue to expand, we are looking for an experienced Set Builder to join our team and help us bring our creative visions to life for our diverse clientele.
Role Overview:
As a Set Builder, you will play a critical role in the creation and assembly of event sets for private and corporate events. This involves working closely with designers, production managers, and other technical teams to ensure that the set elements are built, installed, and maintained to the highest standards. Your work will be key in bringing our client’s ideas to life and ensuring that every event space is visually striking, functional, and safe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set Construction:
- Build, assemble, and install bespoke event sets based on design plans and client specifications.
- Work with various materials, including wood, metal, plastics, and fabric, to create structures that meet event requirements.
- Collaborate with the design and production teams to ensure the set aligns with the overall vision of the event.
- Event Setup and Breakdown:
- Travel to event locations in London and occasionally outside of London to oversee the setup and installation of the set.
- Ensure all set elements are securely installed and meet safety standards during event preparation.
- Assist with the deconstruction and removal of sets after the event has concluded.
- Collaboration with Creative Teams:
- Work alongside event designers and technical teams to make adjustments to the set design as needed during the build process.
- Provide practical solutions to any design challenges or changes that arise on-site.
- Tool and Equipment Management:
- Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and other set construction equipment in a safe and effective manner.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are in good working order and properly stored.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure all built sets meet the required standards for safety, stability, and aesthetic quality.
- Conduct regular inspections of completed sets to ensure they are both visually appealing and structurally sound.
- Health & Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations on-site and during the construction process.
- Ensure the safe handling of materials, tools, and equipment during the set-building and breakdown phases.
- Logistics & Inventory Management:
- Assist with the logistics of transporting set elements to and from event locations.
- Help manage set inventory, keeping track of materials and tools used during builds.
Requirements:
- Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in the live events or entertainment industry.
- Experience building sets for private and corporate events, with an understanding of the unique requirements of these types of productions.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong woodworking, carpentry, and metalworking skills.
- Experience using power tools, hand tools, and other construction equipment safely and effectively.
- Ability to read and understand design plans and blueprints.
- Basic understanding of set design and event production processes.
- Problem-Solving:
- Ability to troubleshoot issues during the build process and come up with practical, creative solutions.
- Comfortable working under tight deadlines and in fast-paced environments.
- Teamwork:
- Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively with other technicians, designers, and event managers.
- Willingness to take direction and also provide input when required.
- Physical Stamina:
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in physically demanding conditions, including bending, kneeling, and working at heights when necessary.
- Health and Safety Awareness:
- Knowledge of health and safety standards in construction and live events, including risk assessment and safe working practices.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with scenic painting, fabric work, and other decorative techniques for event sets.
- Familiarity with basic electrical work or lighting rigging.
- Experience with custom fabrications, 3D props, or scenic art for live events.
- A full UK driving license for transportation of tools and materials.
40 hours per week
· Paid overtime or time off in lieu
· 28 days annual leave inclusive of Bank Holidays
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: Up to £32,000.00 per year (Negotiable)
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability required
- Overtime available
Licence/Certification:
- Driving Licence and over 25 to be able to drive company Vans
