The breadth of our portfolio, for example, includes Automotive, Connectivity and Communication, Motor Control, Functional Safety, Security, Touch, and General Purpose. You will join the product development team in our Cambridge Design Centre, working on SoC products from concept through to volume production.
An opening exists for a Senior Technical Staff Engineer in our Design team with an interest in technical leadership of SoC projects. This will involve working with architects during the concept phase, developing the microarchitecture specification, planning the detailed project plan, and technically leading the SoC design activities. In addition, you will work alongside experienced engineers and be exposed to Microchip’s Best-In-Class engineering practices. Working side-by-side with some of the brightest minds and most innovative people in the industry, you won’t just fill a position, you will be given an opportunity on a team where your contributions matter. Microchip promotes continuous learning in a challenging and rewarding environment.
As a Senior Technical Staff Designer, you will bring your expertise to bear in the following areas relating to SoC development:
• SoC microcontroller architecture and design
• Bus fabrics/protocols (APB, AHB, AXI, etc.)
• Lower power
• IP development
• Functional Safety
• Packaging technologies
• Standard peripherals/communication protocols (USB, I3C, UART, etc.)
Your key responsibilities as a Technical Lead will include:
• Lead SoC design projects from concept to volume production
• Design, integrate and verify IP blocks
• Design checking, synthesis, static timing analysis and power analysis
• SoC level design and verification
• Work with DFT, design implementation and physical design team members
• Continuous improvement of methodologies across the SoC development cycle
• Planning project, managing timelines, deliverable, and communicating progress to stakeholders
Requirements/Qualifications:
• Master’s Degree in Electronic Engineering (or equivalent)
• 15+ years of experience in digital/mixed-signal SoC design
• Deep understanding of design principles spanning the SoC development process
• Expertise in RTL design, verification, DFT, and physical design
• Strong experience with synthesis tools and timing analysis methodologies
• Experience in verification at IP and SoC levels (UVM, SV, etc.)
• Strong scripting skills (Python)
• Proven ability to lead teams and drive execution to meet project goals
• Function as a team player, discrete, agile-minded, proactive, a clear communicator, and highly organised
We believe the right candidate may not necessarily have all the qualifications today, but could be someone who can quickly grow into the position while contributing to our success.
