We’re looking for a strong Senior Practitioner to step into a frontline children’s services role that’s all about making a real difference. Through Staffscanner, you’ll be matched with a team that values your experience, supports your decisions, and empowers you to deliver excellent safeguarding work.
About the role:
You’ll hold a complex caseload and play a key role in managing risk, coordinating care, and making a difference for children who need protection and long-term stability. You’ll be confident working across MASH, CP, R&A and Family Planning contexts, and bring a Signs of Safety mindset to how you engage families and lead on planning.

- Complete holistic assessments using Signs of Safety methodology
- Work directly with children, families and their support networks
- Chair multi-agency meetings and core groups
- Contribute to legal planning and represent the authority in court
- Offer support, advice and mentoring to less experienced colleagues
- Liaise across services including MASH, R&A and Family Support
- Ensure all safeguarding practices follow current legislation and policy
- Cover for team management in their absence, where needed
What you’ll need:
- A Social Work degree and active Social Work England registration
- At least 3 years of post-qualifying experience in children’s statutory services
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, CP processes, and court procedures
- Experience using Signs of Safety or willingness to be trained
- Ability to write clear, evidence-based reports and manage complex caseloads
- Enhanced DBS and right to work in the UK
