The role
At St Richard’s Hospice, we are proud to be at the forefront of compassionate, person-centred specialist palliative care. Following a recent transformation of our services and the launch of a new model of care, we are excited to recruit four Senior Healthcare Assistant (SHCA) to join our integrated palliative care team in the community.
As a Senior Healthcare Assistant, you will:
- Provide high-quality support and care to patients at the end of life in their own homes.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring dignity, respect, and individual needs are at the heart of everything you do.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team delivering community-based palliative care.
- Contribute to the development and evolution of services to meet the needs of patients and families.

About you
- Passion for delivering excellent care, aligned with St Richard’s Hospice values.
- NQV Level 3 in Health and Social care
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and committed to continuous service development.
- IT literate and confident in using digital systems for care planning and communication.
- Effective interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, communicating with patients, those important to them and colleagues
- A team player with a strong sense of accountability and compassion.
- Experience in end-of-life care or palliative care is desirable.
- Experience of lone working in a community setting is desirable.
- Driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for work purposes
