Parklands is a purpose built 54 bed Nursing Home, in South Benfleet. We offer 24 hour quality nursing care for older people and those with physical disabilities.

Parklands is situated in a quiet residential area. Shops, public transport facilities, a library and places of worship are all close by. Benfleet Rail Station is less than a mile away.

We are a looking for an experienced Senior Care Assistant to join our existing day staff team. Previous experience is essential for the role and NVQ3 is required.

Day shift: 7am-7pm (12 hour shifts)

The role will require alternate weekend work and some bank holidays across the year.

Job responsibilities:
-To be responsible for the smooth running of a shift ensuring any issues occurring during the shift are handled appropriately or passed to your line manager.
-To provide a happy and caring atmosphere.
-To work together with the other members of staff in order to provide the individual care required by each resident.
-By teaching and working by example to help train junior members of the care staff in all aspects of their work in the home..

Residents Care
-To help residents who need assistance with feeding, washing, dressing and bathing.
-To help residents who have limited mobility or physical disabilities.
-To assist in control of incontinence, providing comfort with dignity.
-To care for residents who are unwell and to help caring for residents who are dying.
-To assist in giving stimulation to residents.
-To ensure that residents are neat and well groomed as they wish.

Staff
-Assist with the induction training of new staff members.
-Ensure there is good communication with and between staff.
-To direct staff activities throughout your shift and ensure that all logs are completed prior to the end of that shift.
-To advise the Manager on staff performance to assist with staff supervision and appraisal.
-To participate in regular staff meetings and attend training courses as required.
-To ensure that the home’s “Health and Safety Policy” is adhered to.

-Good communicator ability to understand and respond to verbal/ nonverbal communications.
-Literate, Effective team worker.
