The Department of Psychiatry is based on the Warneford Hospital site in Oxford – a friendly, welcoming place of work with an international reputation for excellence. The Department has a substantial research programme, with major funding from Medical Research Council (MRC), Wellcome Trust and National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and provides highly rated medical training in psychiatry. The Head of Department is Professor Belinda Lennox.
This is a new role in the department and will be a key position in the Psychiatry grants team, reporting to the Finance Manager (Research) who leads the team in the provision of pre- and post-award administration and tailored financial planning support to Principal Investigators (PIs).

About the Role
The post is permanent and is based in the Department of Psychiatry at the Warneford Hospital.
The post is available on a hybrid basis with the postholder being expected to work on-site for a minimum of two days each week.
You will provide day-to-day guidance and mentoring to a team of three (2.6 FTE) Grants Officers, supporting the Finance Manager (Research) and ensuring consistently excellent service delivery. You will manage a diverse portfolio of research projects, ensuring that the needs of PIs and professional services, and the requirements of research funders, are met. You will act as a key point of contact for PIs and researchers, providing regular financial updates and responding to queries. This position offers an excellent opportunity for career development within grants administration, working alongside world-leading mental health research teams.
About You
You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and will have substantial experience in research grants administration, including both pre- and post-award processes. With strong communication skills you will be able to explain complex financial or regulatory matters in simple and understandable terms. Excellent numeracy skills are essential as is confidence in financial data analysis and proficiency in using financial systems such as Oracle R12 and costing tools such as X5 and Worktribe
