Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Garment Technologist to join Boden on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role focuses on Girls’ and Boys’ Mini Woven styles, with direct responsibility for Girls’ Woven Dresses. Alongside managing your categories, you’ll provide leadership and guidance to junior team members, ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance across the wider woven product area.
You’ll play a key role in developing beautiful, well-made, and safe products that embody Boden’s quality standards, while building strong relationships with suppliers and supporting continuous improvement across fit, fabric, and production.
Location: 3-4 days per week based at our North Acton Office.
What You Will Do:
- Take ownership of fitting and risk-assessing your product area, while supporting junior team members with theirs.
- Present product updates and feedback in lockdown meetings, ensuring designs are developed in line with the critical path.
- Lead wearer trials and oversee fabric development, ensuring products meet legal requirements and Boden’s quality standards.
- Monitor fit returns, lead returns analysis meetings, and contribute to improvement strategies.
- Proof and manage customer communications, including critical complaints.
- Build strong supplier relationships through regular communication and visits, including contributing to supplier appraisals and benchmarking.
- Share expertise on production, fabrics, and garment construction to influence fabric selection and strategy packs.
- Provide technical training and leadership for junior technologists, including 1:1s, development plans, and annual reviews.
- Support the Technical Manager on wider business projects as needed.
What We Are Looking For:
- Extensive garment technology experience with strong woven product knowledge.
- Proven expertise in patterns, garment construction, yarns, and fabrics.
- Experience working with overseas suppliers and managing end-to-end product development.
- Confident user of Excel, Microsoft Office, and PLM systems (or similar).
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Commercially aware with good problem-solving ability.
- Excellent time management and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Collaborative and approachable, while able to work independently when required.
- Previous leadership experience, including mentoring or managing a team and creating development plans.
- Ability to motivate and inspire others to deliver results.
