Since our inception, we have been dedicated to managing and maximising the use of school sports facilities during evenings, weekends, and school holidays. Alongside this, we support schools by helping to maintain safe, secure, and welcoming environments for pupils, staff, and the wider community.
About the role:
We are recruiting a Site Operative on behalf of Gospel Oak School. The role is vital in helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the school site. You’ll be responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and well-presented environment, supporting with basic repairs, and assisting with the general upkeep of the school grounds and facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out routine cleaning, maintenance, and caretaking duties around the school
- Support with setting up and moving furniture and equipment for lessons, assemblies, and events
- Complete minor repairs (e.g. replacing lightbulbs, fixing door handles, basic DIY tasks)
- Monitor site security during working hours, ensuring visitors sign in and report to reception
- Check the site is safe and hazard-free, reporting any issues promptly
- Assist with deliveries, including moving stock and supplies around the school
- Carry out regular checks of heating, lighting, and water systems, escalating any issues as required
- Maintain outdoor areas such as pathways, car parks, playgrounds, and fields to keep them safe and tidy
- Support the school with any ad hoc site-related tasks as needed
Candidate requirements:
- Practical, hands-on approach with good DIY/maintenance skills
- Ability to work independently and use initiative
- Reliable, punctual, and organised
- Flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the school
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Health & Safety awareness (training will be provided)
- Previous caretaking, facilities, or maintenance experience desirable but not essential
- Willingness to learn and take pride in maintaining high standards
