About the Role:
We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable School Caretaker to support the day-to-day running of a well-regarded school in East London. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong maintenance background—ideally within a school setting—who takes pride in keeping facilities clean, safe, and operational.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs across the school site.
- Ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and security of the premises at all times.
- Opening and closing the school premises, including unlocking gates and checking alarm systems.
- Monitoring heating, lighting, and general facilities to ensure smooth operation.
- Liaising with contractors and external agencies when needed.
- Supporting with set-up for school events or activities.
Requirements:
- Valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential – please do not apply without this).
- Previous maintenance experience is essential – preferably within a school or educational setting.
- Good understanding of health & safety practices and building management.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage time effectively.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and committed to maintaining high standards.
Desirable:
- Previous experience as a school caretaker or facilities assistant.
- Basic skills or qualifications in plumbing, electrics, or general repairs.
- Fire safety or first aid training.
