About the role.
The Reward team plays a pivotal role in supporting our people strategy by designing and delivering pay, benefits, and pensions that align with our business goals. As a Reward Lead, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring our reward practices are competitive, compliant, and tailored to our diverse colleague population.
You’ll bring a deep understanding of reward principles, market trends, and relevant legislation, enabling you to deliver key processes and projects that shape our organisation. From job evaluation and market benchmarking to benefits renewal and gender pay reporting, you’ll ensure we deliver with pace, precision, and impact.
Key Responsibilities.
- Act as the custodian of job evaluation at The Very Group. Working with our people partnering team and the business, you’ll be responsible for sizing roles and appropriately mapping them to the relevant benchmark, and overseeing downstream activities.
- Liaising with Compliance for roles captured under SMCR as SMF or Certified, ensuring all regulatory steps are followed.
- Support the Head of Reward, Pensions & Governance with complex data modelling, including the annual pay review process and variable remuneration plans.
- Lead the implementation of all cyclical compensation and benefits related activities in the system (Oracle HCM), supported by our Tech and Colleague Experience team.
- Extract and analyse data to calculate and report our Gender Pay figures in line with the regulations, supported with contextual narrative to feature in our annual D&I report.
- Lead the annual benefits renewal process, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless system setup, robust testing, and effective colleague communications.
- Design and deliver key communications for activities such as pay reviews and the annual benefits window.
- Market benchmarking: Manage the mapping of roles to salary surveys, ensuring timely participation and accurate data to inform our reward strategy.
- Respond to requests from People Partners or the Head of People for market data analysis, preparing insights and recommendations.
About you.
We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in reward and a passion for delivering excellence. You’ll bring:
- Proven experience in a Reward role, with a solid understanding of all areas of reward (experience in a regulated business is desirable).
- Expertise in job evaluation methodology and tools (experience with Willis Towers Watson evaluation framework is a plus).
- Strong technical and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly grasp systems and evaluate their application.
- Advanced Excel skills, including macros, formulae, pivot tables, and data modelling.
- Great communication skills, with the ability to make the ‘complex’, simple.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements, including SMCR, equal pay, gender pay reporting, and national living wage.
- Experience with Oracle HR or similar systems, particularly in assignment, compensation, and benefits elements.
- Proficiency in using reporting tools (e.g., Oracle Business Intelligence or other BI tools).
