The Restore Shop and Cafe Recovery Group (based in the grounds of Littlemore Mental Health Centre)is currently recruiting for the role of Recovery Worker!
This role is suitable for someone who enjoys working with people; encouraging them to develop their ability in activities such as cash handling, stocktaking, customer service, barista and simple cooking skills, alongside supporting them to gain confidence and self-awareness in a protected work setting. Experience in retail, cafe or other customer service environments is helpful - but not essential - as training can be offered on the job.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the criteria below:
- A positive attitude towards people with mental health problems, in particular people’s ability to develop and change - demonstrating an understanding of the obstacles and challenges faced by people with poor mental health
- Experience in - or willingness to learn - retail and cafe skills (including operating a till and making barista coffees)
- Excellent listening skills and communication skills (written, verbal and digital) with clear evidence of ability
- Ability to work with challenging behaviours and people with complex needs through assertive, respectful and appropriate support utilising good organisational structures
- Ability to motivate others to learn skills and increase their confidence
Desirable
- Experience of working with people with mental health challenges
- Experience of working with trainees
