Highgate Synagogue is seeking a dynamic, organised and personable Rabbinic Support and Events Coordinator to become a key member of our small but impactful team. This role offers a unique opportunity to support the Rabbi and Rebbetzin, oversee community events, and help ensure smooth day-to-day operations at the synagogue.
We’re looking for someone who is:
- A brilliant organiser – you’ll be juggling diaries, arranging events, managing logistics and ensuring everything runs like clockwork.
- A confident communicator – you’ll liaise with volunteers, speakers, external partners and members of the community with clarity and warmth.
- Comfortable with tech and admin – from managing bookings to updating calendars and handling expense claims, you’re someone who doesn’t miss a detail.
- Community-minded – you’re motivated by purpose, ready to get stuck in, and genuinely care about helping people feel welcomed and supported.
What you'll be doing:
- Coordinating and supporting a wide range of community events, including kaddishim, talks, services, and school visits.
- Providing administrative and diary support to the Rabbi and Rebbetzin.
- Assisting with synagogue communications, bookings, and practical logistics.
- Acting as a reliable point of contact when the Community Manager is away.
- Supporting youth and volunteer initiatives.
What we’re looking for:
- Someone with strong admin and organisational skills and a calm, can-do approach.
- A confident user of Microsoft Office and online systems (graphic design and web editing skills are a bonus).
- Someone with good knowledge of Jewish customs and a respectful, discreet, and professional manner.
- Experience in events, office coordination or synagogue life is helpful – but above all, the right attitude, initiative and people skills will go a long way.
Why work with us?
You’ll be part of a supportive team making a real difference to Jewish life in North London. You’ll gain insight into the vibrant rhythm of synagogue and community life, and you’ll be valued for your reliability, initiative and warmth.
Benefits include:
- 20 days’ holiday plus 8 bank holidays (pro rata)
- Jewish holidays off when they fall on workdays
- Pension scheme & Employee Assistance Programme
- Cycle to Work scheme
